Siri Kollandsrud är en norsk konstnär, utbildad i Berlin, idag bosatt i Köpenhamn. Hon har erhållit flertal arbets- och resestipendier samt ställt ut i flera länder, dock är det första gången hon ställer ut i Sverige. På Galleri Skelderhus visar konstnären målningar från senare år.
Kollandsrud måleri är uppbyggt i flera lager vilket för med sig ett djup i varje enskild målning och som tillsammans skapar ett expanderande universum. Verken tycks uppstå i ett flöde av ett intuitivt arbete i ateljén där enskilda verk syns korsreferera till varandra. Det finns inga självklara motiv, och i den mån sådana kan skönjas förefaller de i lika hög grad vara upplösta. Snarare är verken att betrakta som poetiska subjektiva abstraktioner där målningarna inte refererar till något utanför sig själva, snarare verkar de motivera sitt eget existensberättigande.
En konsthistorisk referens skulle kunna utgöra informell konst. Ett begrepp som Michel Tapié introducerade i boken Un Art Autre (1952) där han beskriver den då nya konsten under 40- och i början av 50-talet. Informell konst beskrevs som en form av abstrakt konst, men som avvek från tidigare abstrakta verk genom att gå från det analytiska till det mer subjektiva. Konstnärer som kan räknas hit är bland Alberto Burri, Franz Kline, Karel Appel med flera. En tolkning är också att konstnärer under denna period försökte att skapa något nytt i konsten som svar på andra världskrigets erfarenheter. En konst fri från de historiska referenser och värderingar som inte kunnat förhindra – eller kanske snarare t o m orsakat – krig och förödelse.
Kanhända är Kollandsrud måleri också något som går att se som en intuitiv process att skapa något som snarare sträcker sig ut i rummet och vill skapa en ny förutsättning för konsten, befriat från centrets gravitation och påbud. En process som både kan tolkas som en optimistisk och okuvad syn på konsten och dess förmåga att befria sig från officiella diktat och dagens bekymmer – allt ifrån klimat, ekonomi, politik etc – för att en annan dag förhoppningsvis kunna infinna sig i ett ny värld – ett nytt universum.

Siri Kollandsrud is a Norwegian artist, educated in Berlin, and currently resides in Copenhagen. She has received numerous work and travel grants and exhibited in several countries, but this is the first time she exhibiting in Sweden. At Galleri Skelderhus, the artist shows paintings from recent years.
Kollandsrud’s painting is built up in several layers, which brings with it a depth in each individual painting and together create an expanding universe. The works seem to arise in a flow of intuitive work in the studio where individual works appear to cross-refer to each other. There are no obvious motifs, to the extent that they can be discerned, they appear to be equally dissolved. Rather, the works could be regarded as poetic subjective abstractions where the paintings do not refer to anything outside themselves, rather they seem to motivate their own justification for existence.
An art historical reference could constitute informal art. A concept that Michel Tapié introduced in the book Un Art autre (1952) where he describes the then new art in the 40s and early 50s. Informal art was described as a form of abstract art, but deviated from earlier abstract works by moving from the analytical to the more subjective. Artists that can be counted on include Alberto Burri, Franz Kline, Karel Appel and others. One interpretation is also that artists during this period tried to create something new in art in response to their experience due to World War II. An art free from the historical references and values that could not prevent – or perhaps even has caused – war and devastation.
Possibly, Kollandsrud’s painting is also something that can be seen as an intuitive process to create something that rather expand the space and wants to create a new prerequisite for art, freed from the center’s gravity and specific values in society. A process that can be interpreted as both an optimistic view of art and its ability to liberate itself from official dictates and today’s concerns – everything from climate, economics, politics, etc. – to one day hopefully be able to find itself in a new world – a new universe.
